HOPE10,000

Choose a distance and complete it your way as part of our virtual challenge!

When

17th May – 14th June 2021

Distance

10,000km

Target

£10,000

How

Walk, run, cycle, or get creative!

Following the huge success of the challenge last summer, WeSeeHope’s HOPE10,000 is BACK, and launching on 17th May! As the pandemic continues to have an immediate and long-term socioeconomic impact on the vulnerable children and families we work with in Southern and Eastern Africa, we are aiming to raise £10,000 to help us best support them throughout this time and beyond.

Help us cover 10,000km in a month, which is the average distance from the UK to the five countries we work in – Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Here’s how you’ll be able to take part:

Complete your kilometres – whether it’s a 2km stroll with a friend, a 5km lunchtime jog, or a 60km weekend cycle.

Log your distance and make a donation – why not donate £1 for every km you cover?!

Alternatively you could pledge to do a distance over the month, either donating once you’ve finished or fundraising along the way! Pledges could include setting yourself a target distance per week or tackling a chunk with friends or family.

TAKE ON YOUR OWN HOPE10,000

Take part as a company, school or enthusiastic group by setting up your own HOPE10,000 alongside ours. Ask participants to donate or fundraise, or you can even match their efforts, either per £ raised or km completed. Set up your own tracker or use a platform such as Challenge Hound to log your distance and allow your teams and supporters to monitor your progress.

Our corporate partner, Icon Solutions, took on the HOPE10,000 alongside our challenge last year.

The team raised £4,500 through employee fundraising and the company generously donated 25p for every km cycled and 50p for every km walked or run. In four weeks, they logged 833 activities and beat their target by 414km.

Speik, who also took on their own HOPE10,000 earlier this year, hit their target and raised £5,625! Hear what Jane, Speik’s Head of Customer Operations, said about the challenge:

I really enjoyed running it. It was really rewarding when everyone was so enthusiastic and encouraging to each other. It created a lovely supportive community which was very motivating!

If this is something you would be interested in, or if you’d like to hear more, please get in touch with our Fundraising Coordinator, Jess, at Jess@WeSeeHope.org.uk.

Please share the HOPE10,000 with your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours – we want to get as many people involved as possible because every km covered and £ raised matters!
